Kan Tan1963~
An up-and-coming artist in Taiwan’s stone-carving, Kan Tan is widely recognized
at major local and foreign exhibitions for his artwork.
Upon graduating from Fu
Hsing Vocational School, Kan Tan mentored under the globally renowned sculptor
JuMing, and mended ancient bronze wares and Buddhist figures at the National
Palace Museum.
His venture on stone carving did not begin until he relocated to
Hualien in 1995.
Kan exchanged with the local stone carvers and with the
inspiration of Hualien’s majestic coastline landscape led to his creation on the
“Wind Series”.
Kan Tan captures the rhythms of his stone carvings as inspired by the ambience
and the flow of air, yet reserve his trademark of chiseled marks using the local
Hualien quarried white marble.
Kan believes that a good piece of carving should
be seen when viewed from any angle.

Residences is acclaimed as a masterpiece from Kan Tan’s “Wind Series”
collections.
Right at the peak of his career, it is believed that more sensational
works will come out from Kan Tan.
