With an outstanding art talent since childhood, Wang is passionate on
gravels and stones that withstand the test of time, which has prompted him to
choose the subject of sculpture at the National Taiwan College of Arts, through
which to fulfill his childhood dreams.
Although stone-carving creation requires significant physical stamina and has a
higher level of difficulty, Wang Hsiu-chi believes that one needs to brace forward
once starting down the path of an artistic endeavor.
He reckons that one not only
needs to constantly refine one’s skills to increase the depth and strength of one’s
works, but more important, to create with the prevailing trend in mind.
Consequently, reflected in Wang Hsiu-chi’s works is his perseverance and faith.
With his stone-carvings feature fullness and smooth lines, Wang’s works on
display at San Want Residences are a series of children that hope to give out
happiness and contentment.
His works often reveal a strong sense of native
culture and his care for the earth, as he highlights the simplistic beauty of live
and a truthful depiction of the agility of life through subjects that everybody is
